  • This program has a capacity of 35 students per program, with a cost of $125 per program. Only 1 program can occur each day offered. Some approved CPS and CIS of Chicago schools may receive free programs through specific referrals. This program includes live animals, and participating schools must be within 1 hour travel distance from Shedd Aquarium. For reasons of animal care, the focus animal of this program may change at the last minute.

  • My school is less than a 1 hour commute time during high volume travel times. Due to animal care needs, we cannot support programs where we will be in transit for more than an hour*

  • Inclement Weather Policy

    • Safety is the first priority for our program staff and participants. If weather creates hazardous conditions and our staff cannot reach the program location, the Shedd staff facilitating the program will reach out to cancel the program, at the latest the morning of the scheduled program. We will work with you to reschedule your program.
    • If Chicago Public Schools are closed due to weather, all scheduled programs will be canceled - regardless of school district affiliation. To find if CPS has canceled classes, please check the CPS Press Release Page and/or Chicago Area School Emergency Closings Center. The Shedd staff facilitating the program will reach out to notify you of the cancellation. We will work with you to reschedule your program.
    • If your school district closes due to inclement weather, your program will be canceled. We would appreciate a phone call or email notifying us of the closure, however we will also be checking appropriate sites for closures - Chicago Area School Emergency Closings Center and your district’s website. We will work with you to reschedule your program.
