Inclement Weather Policy
- Safety is the first priority for our program staff and participants. If weather creates hazardous conditions and our staff cannot reach the program location, the Shedd staff facilitating the program will reach out to cancel the program, at the latest the morning of the scheduled program. We will work with you to reschedule your program.
- If Chicago Public Schools are closed due to weather, all scheduled programs will be canceled - regardless of school district affiliation. To find if CPS has canceled classes, please check the CPS Press Release Page and/or Chicago Area School Emergency Closings Center. The Shedd staff facilitating the program will reach out to notify you of the cancellation. We will work with you to reschedule your program.
- If your school district closes due to inclement weather, your program will be canceled. We would appreciate a phone call or email notifying us of the closure, however we will also be checking appropriate sites for closures - Chicago Area School Emergency Closings Center and your district’s website. We will work with you to reschedule your program.

To aid our staff the day of the scheduled program, please provide all helpful information needed to park, arrive and enter your school. Please include how early they should arrive so they can get to the assigned classroom on time, specific parking info, if there are elevators or stairs to get to the assigned classroom, ID and security check-in processes, etc. Please remember the Shedd staff might never have been to your school before. *
